From Out of the Fire is a longer fantasy story of over 300 pages, but the first chapter captivates you immediately. The main character, Hope, is set apart from anyone else in the town from even before birth. The town has been reduced to cave and pit dwellers as a result of the raids from a terrorizing dragon, who has destroyed much of the town with the exception of an area in the middle that everyone calls The Plot, a piece of land set aside for the townspeople to grow food and other things for survival. Why and how that was never touched, no one knows. At the beginning of the book, the town has enjoyed years of peace from the dragon's raids, but that is soon to end, and Hope's personal journey is only beginning.
