Happiness

How great and kind is the Lord
I look behind
He is there
I look ahead
He is there
Guiding and directing me
Performing miracles
Teaching me
Helping me overcome fears
He watches
He cares
He wants the best for me
He wants the best from me
What generous love
To be patient with me
His eyes watch me
His heart yearns for me
He wants me happy
I want Him happy

Commentary:

There was a point in my schooling, particularly while I was studying at the university, where I was faced with some classes that caused a lot of stress, and as a result I tended to give in to some negative thoughts about myself and who I was.  I love a good challenge, but when the stress from the challenge begins to make me feel overwhelmed, it becomes more difficult to handle the stress.  I knew at that time I had to do something to help me overcome feeling overwhelmed, so one of my strategies was to sit down and write poetry to help me refocus, and one of those ways of refocusing was to help encourage myself by tapping more into the spiritual side of things.  It was a way of turning a negative into a positive, and it was the exact thing I needed at the time.  It supported me enough to make it through that time without having a breakdown.

My spiritual poems are Christian based as he is central to my religion and hope that it can be an inspiration to others who seek it.  They are mainly to help and strengthen myself, but I feel extraordinarily happy when it is able to help someone else out there also.
