My One Steady Friend

I thank thee, Lord
For thy patience with me
As I walk along the path
I have been imperfect
At times I stray
Too many times, I make mistakes
And distance myself
Though others may leave me
Alone in my struggles
Thou art my one steady friend
The one who understands
The one who listens
And remains standing near
Waiting ever patiently
As I take the time I need
To come to Thee

Commentary:

I'm not sure I have a lot to say about this one since I've discussed this several times already.  The awareness that people come and go in your life can sometimes be difficult and depressing, especially when it comes as a result from a difficult situation.  There's always that longing that at least I have of having someone you can depend on to always be there for you.  As stated many times, I've been lately awed by the example of Jesus in the Bible where he didn't leave when he easily could have.  To have that knowledge that despite our great imperfections, we can always count on Him to be there waiting and willing to help provided we come to Him and ask for it.
