Thankful for the New Day

As I wake upon the morning hour
I notice the light beginning to glow
A subtle glow in the mountainous horizon
It gradually grows lighter,
Until in a moment’s time, a beautiful sight!
My heart is lifted after a long difficult night
I look around me and witness the wonder
Waking up with me
It fills my heart
And I am thankful for the new day
A chance to go forward
A chance to live better
Leaving mistakes and darkness in the past

Commentary:

I have a large window in my bedroom positioned in such a way that when I wake up it is the first thing I see.  Since I'm an early bird, it's often still dark, but it is a beautiful thing to witness the transition from the darkness of night into the light of day.  It doesn't really grow old, and sometimes during the winter season when the sun is in the south (my window faces south), I sometimes get glimpses of the morning sunrise, and winter sunrises as well as sunsets are amazing!

I started thinking about that transition and how I am in a transition mode right now where I have recently changed my life situation from being a full time employee out of the home to a full time caregiver to family members who have been experiencing health changes in the past year.  My transition was not completely smooth.  There were some rough things that went on, but this is not the place to discuss those.  I noticed immediately that the situation, no matter how rough it was, became a blessing in disguise, because it made things so much easier on all family members it concerned.
