Sleep, I’ve been trying to sleep
Without a try, and not without a care
Calm, only wanting for calm
I’m all tucked in, wishing for a dream
It’s time to get some shut eye
Shutting down the brain again
It’s time to get some shut eye
The light’s so bright today
In the full moonlight
In the full moonlight
Stretching out, embrace the place
The sheets turned warm
The sheets turned warm
It’s time to get some shut eye
Muscles tense and won’t conform
It’s time to get some shut eye
It’s time to get some shut eye
Wish that dream answered my prayer
It’s time to get some shut eye
It’s time to get some shut eye
It’s time to get some shut eye
It’s time to get some shut eye tonight
Tonight, tonight, tonight
Tonight
Sweet dreams and clarity
I seek tonight
I seek tonight
Tonight, tonight, tonight
Tonight, tonight
Commentary:
This is my ode to insomniacs. I thought the other day that I hadn't done a parody lately and gave it a try here, because I really have fun with those. This particular parody is set to Neil Diamond's Coming to America. It's the song that popped into my head while I was thinking about it, and was actually sparked from a conversation I had on a YouTube video about setting another song to a parody. Perhaps that one is coming. I don't normally take those challenges lightly. We'll see. I'd normally do a vocal along with these, but even though I really like this song, I don't really fit in with Neil Diamond's style well, so I'd have to figure out how to get it to work for me before I can do it.
This was enjoyable to make, and if it makes one other person put on a little smile, then I'm happy. I don't require popularity for that.
