A Glimpse at What Heaven Must Be

The sleeping world awakens
Buds arise from their secret places
Green leaves open to drink in the light
The wind catches fruit blossoms, which blow as snowflakes
The air is filled with sweet delicious fragrances
Music of the birds serenade the waking soul
A slight cool breeze blows gently across the face
While a warm sun radiates heat on the back
Life is renewed in all its beauty and glory
Inspiring a burdened soul with the brightness of Hope
Sorrow and darkness forgot, happiness and light restored
Revealing a glimpse at what heaven must be

Commentary:

Spring.  As much as I love all seasons of the year, I have a particular fondness of Spring.  It's the time of year when everything wakes from their winter's sleep.  What once was gray, white, and brown is now emerging in all sorts of colors.  Its a regeneration and renewal of life, and with it comes an enlivening energy.  It's witnessing the miracles of life and seeing its beauty that we often forget about in many other parts of the season.  The smell of rain is one of my favorite smells also.  I love the wet smell.  The sun is a pleasant warm, not hot, as it hits your back.  I also love to cool mornings and warm afternoons.  The contrast is such a beautiful thing.

This particular poem was inspired by those inspiring spring day moments of euphoria as I described in the poem.  I think about how beautiful it makes me feel and how the beauty of it all reminds me of how I imagine the beauty of heaven.  It's amazing how the simplest things of nature teach these insights.  I am thankful for these moments.
