I Need You There

I am presented into a room
Decorated in such simple beauty
Peaceful and perfect for reflection
Another is in there with me
Whether He was there all along
Or had just entered
I know not
A choice is placed before me
One of serious contemplation
Spread out along the walls
Were papers with numbers
Each number represented a century
A time period of the earth's life
I am asked by my companion
To choose a number
I am drawn toward the end
Such decisions!
A time period catches my interest
A time requiring courage
A time requiring hope
A time requiring virtue
A time requiring faith
A time requiring love
A time much earlier than now
I point to it and answer,
"Send me there."
But to my surprise, He does not agree
"That is a good choice,
But I will send you there."
He directs me to a time much later
A time requiring courage
A time requiring hope
A time requiring virtue
A time requiring faith
A time requiring love
And with His calm and gentle voice, he says,
"I need you there."

And so then I came...

Commentary:

This is another poem inspired by a dream.  It was a religious dream, and I tried my best to explain it in the poem.  I was standing in a room, quite similar to one you would find in a school or church, and I was waiting in the room, and I knew I was waiting to have an interview with the Lord.  In time, He came in and in that meeting we discussed time periods throughout earth's time that would be best for me to live in.  I remember specifically that I requested to be born in the 19th century, because I wanted to be among those who stand against the evils of that time.  I was told it was a good choice; however, He wanted me at another time, and told me to consider a later time, which I accepted, and the dream ended with Him speaking the words to me, "I need you there."

I don't know what sparked that dream, but I thought about it for years.  There is another dream I often associate with it, where I'm in conversation with Him again, but He's behind a white veil.  Both dreams I don't see His face, but the voice was clear.  So I'm here living in this time and now my life's mission is to discover exactly why I was needed here instead of another time, but I'm certainly thankful that I have been born at this time.  I've grown up with and met some amazing people along the way who have helped me at times get a vision of who I am and what my purpose in life is.
