Silent darkness
Stillness
A whirlpool of thoughts
The snuggly blanket
A dark hallway
And a distant soft glowing light
Lighted lamp
How?
No movement
No noise
No understandable cause
Yet it glows
Why?
A reminder?
A welcoming?
Perhaps both
Remembering
Greeting
Good morning, lamp
Time to rest
Commentary:
There isn't any secret message in this if anyone's trying to look for it. I'm just expressing my reaction I have when I wake up early in the morning while it's still dark and discover my touch lamp, which is tucked away in a corner of another room, has turned on. I've tried to figure out what sets it off. I know power outages do that, but we haven't had an outage for a long time. There was also the possibility that it would turn on if someone closed a door or something that shook this part of the house, but no one has been outside when I discover it. Another strange part about it is that it hasn't done this until about the beginning of this year, and it's been in that corner for several years.
It's a mystery, but I've actually used that odd occurrence to remind me of moments when I've been reminded about being a light to people and to remember kindness and love are what people in the world need the most right now. I actually do wish it good morning, and I have people in mind while I say it and kind of say it to them also even though they don't hear me. It's turned out to be more of a reminder now.

I share this picture all the time, but it's one of my most favorite sunrise pictures. That morning was absolutely spectacular. |
